Για τον Vincent Van Gogh υπαρχουν θεωριες οτι ισως επασχε απο σχιζοφρενεια.Απο την αλλη βεβαια υπαρχουν θεωριες οτι επασχε απο αλλες ασθενειες.

πάντως δεν αγάπησε μόνο γυναίκα, αγάπησε πολύ κι ένα ζωγράφο επίσης διάσημο, που δε θυμαμαι πώς τον έλεγαν. έκοψε το αυτί του νομίζω όταν ο άλλος του είπε πως θα έφευγε. έτσι νομίζω.
δε θέλω να πω πως ο βαν ήταν ομοφιλόφυλος. πάντως, μπορεί να μην ήταν σχιζοφρενής. καμιά φορά, ακραίες καταστάσεις τις ονομάζουμε όπως μας έρθει...

Εγω παλι εχω ακουσει οτι εκοψε το αυτι του για να μπορεσει να γλυτωσει απο τις ακουστικες παραισθησεις....

23 Δεκεμβρίου 1888
Ο Βαν Γκογκ έκοψε το αυτί του μετά από ένα περίερεγο περιστατικό με τον φίλο του, επίσης ζωγράφο, Γκογκέν με τον οποίο και συγκατοικούσαν στο Κίτρινο Σπίτι...

Ο Γκογκέν σε κάποια φάση ζωγράφισε κι αυτός μια νεκρή φύση με τα αγαπημένα λουλούδια του Βίνσεντ -τα ηλιοτρόπια- κι είχε την ιδέα να τον συμπεριλάβει στον πίνακα, όπως ακριβώς τον έβλεπε να δουλεύει. Όταν ο Βαν Γκογκ είδε το πορτρέτο είπε: Ναι, είμαι πράγματι εγώ , αλλά σαν τρελός.\"
Πιάστηκαν στα χέρια κι ο Γκογκέν του ανακοίνωσε ότι θα έφευγε. Το απόγευμα της επομένης , ο Γκογκέν άκουσε βήματα πίσω του στην πλατεία Ουγκό. Όταν γύρισε να δει ποιος ήταν αντίκρισε τον Βαν Γκογκ μ\'ένα ξυράφι στο χέρι. Ο Βαν Γκογκ ξαφνικά σταμάτησε, επέστρεψε στο Κίτρινο σπίτι κι έκοψε κομμάτι από το δεξί του αυτί. Το τύλιξε σε ένα κομμάτι ύφασμα και το έδωσε ο ίδιος σε μια ***** που ανομαζόταν Ραχήλ.
Όταν ο Γκογκέν επέστρεψε στο Κίτρινο Σπίτι, τον συνέλαβαν ως ύποπτο για εγκληματική ενέργεια κατά του Βαν Γκογκ, αλλά καθώς ο τελευταίος ήταν ακόμα ζωντανός, τον μετέφεραν στο νοσοκομείο κι άφησαν ελεύθερο τον Γκογκέν.
Ο Γκογκέν εγκαταλείπει το Κίτρινο Σπίτι την επόμενη ημέρα, ενώ ο Βαν Γκογκ επιστρέφει σ\' αυτό μετά από παραμονή 2 εβδομάδων στο νοσοκομείο...

Τον Ιούλιο του 1890 γράφει στον αδερφό του Τεό...
\"Χωρίς τη φιλία σου, θα είχα αποπειραθεί να αυτοκτονήσω εδώ και καιρό, χωρίς τύψεις, και τέτοιος δειλός που είμαι , πιστεύω ότι στο τέλος θα το κατάφερνα.\"
Αυτοπυροβολήθηκε στις 27 Ιουλίου 1890 και πέθανε ύστερα από 2 ημέρες.

Πάντως ο Βαν Γκογκ,όπως κι αν ονομάσουμε ό,τι είχε, συνέβαλε ουσιαστικά στη στη δημιουργία του μύθου ότι οι καλλιτέχνες είναι, λίγο ή πολύ, διαταραγμένες προσωπικότητες...

(Βρε παιδιά, αλήθεια τώρα, δεν είναι άκρως συμπαθητικός και φοβερή η ιστορία του?)
